Agreement to these terms
Cutout Lab is an independently operated software service. By accessing or using the Cutout Lab web editor or HTTP API, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use Cutout Lab.
Your images and intellectual property
You retain all ownership rights to the images you upload or submit. You represent and warrant that you own or have all necessary rights, licenses, and consents (including from identifiable individuals) to submit your images for processing.
You grant Cutout Lab a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license solely to transmit, process in memory, and return the requested cutout output to you.
Service availability, web editor, and API limits
The web editor is provided free without an account, with per-network limits (currently 20 images per minute and 100 images per day, resetting at 00:00 UTC). The HTTP API is offered free during launch with per-key rate and daily quota limits (currently 10 requests per minute and 50 images per day, resetting at 00:00 UTC). We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service, change quotas, or introduce paid tiers in the future, and we may revoke or suspend API keys for abuse or quota evasion.
The web editor accepts up to 10 non-animated JPEG, PNG, or WebP images at a time, each up to 25 MB and 40 megapixels (scaled to 16 megapixels in your browser before editing). The HTTP API accepts non-animated JPEG, PNG, or WebP images up to 12 MB and 12 megapixels. Download your results promptly; Cutout Lab does not provide cloud storage.
Acceptable use
Do not use the web editor or API for any unlawful, infringing, defamatory, or harmful content; to process biometric or identity documents where software editing is prohibited by an issuing authority; to probe or access private networks (including SSRF via image_url); to scrape the site; to register multiple accounts or disposable emails to bypass API quotas; or to interfere with service stability. Keep API keys confidential on your server and never expose them in client-side code.
Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability
THE SERVICE AND API ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, UPTIME, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. Automated background removal can remove real subject details or leave artifacts; you are solely responsible for inspecting every output before commercial, marketplace, or official use.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, CUTOUT LAB AND ITS OPERATOR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR LISTING REJECTIONS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, AND TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS OR ZERO DOLLARS ($0.00). Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable consumer law.
